Understanding Date Calculations
Date calculations can be complex due to varying month lengths, leap years, and other factors. Here's how our calculator handles these situations:
- Month Length Variations: When adding or subtracting months, the calculator adjusts for different month lengths. If the resulting date would fall beyond the end of the month (e.g., adding 1 month to January 31 would give February 31, which doesn't exist), the date is adjusted to the last day of the target month (February 28 or 29).
- Leap Years: The calculator automatically accounts for leap years when calculating dates. February 29 exists only in leap years (2020, 2024, etc.).
- Order of Operations: The calculator applies changes in this order: years, then months, then weeks, then days. This ensures consistent results regardless of the starting date.
